Default How do I make a form checkmark look like a checkmark and not an X

The Office 2003 Check Box Form Field is supposed to produce a nice check
mark, however it just shows as an "x" in the box instead. How do you get the
nice check mark (like the one that is in the Forms toolbar checkbox icon)?
Thanks!

You can't with the checkbox in the Forms toolbar. However, there are a
number of ways to create and use clickable checkboxes in documents /
templates. Some require protected or locked forms, others do not. Take a
look at the Checkbox template available at
http://www.addbalance.com/word/downl...#CheckboxAddIn for an exploration
of these.

Thanks Greg,

I like the step-by-step guide - easy to go through.

There is an issue with using macros in our corporate environment in which we
aren't normally allowed to use macros, but that is nothing that any of us can
do anything about.

Microsoft, if you are listening, could you add a non-macro feature to custom
define the checkbox check in forms, or another way to make the check box into
a box with a check in it rather than an X in it? (They call them checkboxes
because you can put a "check" mark in there ) Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm trying to avoid macros to not run into
company policy issues, but that may be a lost cause.

Can you make them tick/untick with a single click?
