Default Suddenly I can't highlight a table row ... why?

About five minutes ago I was working happily with a table in MS Word
2007. By happily, I mean that if I put the cursor just to the left of
a row in the table (where it turned into a slanting arrow) and
clicked, I was able to highlight the row, and (for example) apply
shading etc.

Then I decided to move the table and put a legend at the top, to
explain what the various shadings mean. Now, when I put my cursor to
the side, get the arrow shape, and click, the third line of the legend
is highlighted. The only way to highlight a row seems to be to put
the focus at the start of the row (I-beam), and press SHIFT+End to
move to the end of the row.

What have I done to change the behaviour? I've tried copying and
pasting the table to a new document without the legend, but the
behaviour persists.

Thoughts, please?

Thanks

Edward

If you moved the table by dragging it, you have made it wrapped. On the
Table tab of Table | Properties, select None for text wrapping.
