Can't print from any Office programs
I have Microsoft Office 2003 fully patched on my computer. When I try to
print from Excel of Word, a "Save the file as" shows up and wants me to save the file with as a *.xps file. No matter what I do, I cannot get any of my documents to print. Any suggestions? |

Change the printer driver to a printer you have access to.

It sounds like your default printer is set to XPS--a Microsoft format
similar in concept to PDF. So, when you try to print, Excel is trying to create an XPS file. If this is happening for all applications , you need to go into the Control Panel for Windows, and set the default printer to your actual physical printer. -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Guy Delaney" wrote in message ... Can't print from any Office programs
Sometimes I have had a newly installed program give me a "must specify
printer" message even though I have a default printer set to go. Re-saving the settings through the Printer utility (or specifying another default printer) wouldn't clear up the problem, nor would closing and re-opening the program. But most of the time, restarting the computer and re-opening the program fixed the issue. Once or twice I had to reinstall the program (or "Repair the application" if that option was offered) then reboot then restart the application. I don't know why this happens but fortunately the problems have been self-repairing using the above procedures. "Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote in message ...
