In a main folder I have a sub-folder called Letters - somehow I created another sub-folder called letter within the original subfolder - how can I move them together so I only have one Letter subfolder

Nothing to do with Word.
Either open the inner folder and drag the icons for the contents to the outer folder as it appears in the panel at the left of the window, or else select all the items in the folder, Cut (Ctrl-X) them to the clipboard, go to the outer folder, put the cursor in the open, empty [except for the now- empty folder] window for it, and Paste (Ctrl-V). Then delete the now-empty folder.
