Is there anyway in Word 2007 to get rid of the mini-toolbar on the
right-click pop-up menu? The automatic display is turned off?

Not when you right-click. However, if you have a Windows-style keyboard,
pressing the "menu" key (often it's between the Alt and Ctrl keys on the
right side) will give you just the context menu without the mini-bar. If you
don't have a Windows keyboard, Shift+F10 does the same thing as the menu
key... again, giving you the context menu without the minibar.

Thanks Herb, you answered the question for me also. I hate the answer. I
don't use the keyboard, only the mouse. BUt then, MS knows what's best for
us.

I hate the mini-toolbar and would like to drive a stake through its heart.
Microsoft does not allow you to turn off the mini-toolbar when you
right-click on the mouse. The pop-up menus cover up whatever you are
right-clicking on, an extremely annoying problem.

I hate Office '07.

I'm not disagreeing with your point, but it does no good to complain here
about software design issues. The users who volunteer their time here have
no more control over that than you do. If you want to communicate your
opinion to MS use the Office Button [program name] Options Resources
Contact Us feature provided for collecting just that type of feedback :-)

Unfortunately that only disables the ghosty version of it when selecting
text. Herman's referring to the fact that it also pops up in living color
whenever you right-click even in unselected text -- and that ya can't turn
off.

That must have been years ago :-) Right-Clicking on the Mac has been around
ever since the introduction of OS X.

Turned out neither my Performa nor my (hand-me-down) MacBook could be
upgraded to OS X.
