Default Word 2007: Set for Double Space, but Enter makes 2.5 spaces

Hello.

As mentioned in the subject line, I have the paragraoh set for double
spacing, but when I hit the enter key 2.5 spaces are returned.

Doing a SHIFT Enter works in keeping the double spacing, but in starting a
new paragraph, I try hitting the TAB key to indent the first line in that
paragraph ends up shifting the entire text at and below the prompt over to
the marked tab spot.

Any way to get this to function correctly?

Thanks

GB

P.S.

Dear Bill,

I am still waiting for that "WOW" you talked about.

You might want to check out Word Help for the distinction between Line
Spacing and Paragraph Spacing. When you press Enter you're generating a new
paragraph. The style of your paragraph evidently includes Paragraph Space
Before and/or Space After which is added to the actual Line Spacing.

Shift+Enter forces a line break but the new line is a part of the same
paragraph - so the additional space doesn't get added. Also, since it's a
part of the same paragraph, pressing Tab causes an Indent to be applied.
