Default database field do not update

We have inserted database fields into word. For some reason the fields
have stopped updating unless I highlight and press F9. I tried
pressing CTR 4 to make sure the fields are unlocked, but it made no
difference. It seems like they stopped working when we made an
unrelated change to the document and saved it.

Are you sure there's a data base field still in the document? If you
press Alt+F9 does the field code appear?

Is it possible that data source has moved or isn't available? Some
versions of Word, rather than giving you a message that the field can't
update simply continue to show the old data.

Are you able to insert the database again, or does it fail? Which version
of Word? What application is supplying the data?
