help: insert symbol and tools > customize not working properly
I use WINWORD 2002 (Office XP Professional) in Windows XP Pro.
1) I've recently noticed that clicking on the "insert symbol" button on the toolbar turns the document to a shade (light blue) as though it were inactive. Also the insert symbol function doesn't work. 2) I can use the tools customize function only at the begining of a session (when I first open Word) but then the "customize" function is shaded (inactive) as soon as I start typing. I tried to remove and add the "insert symbol" button using the customize function, but the button still doesn't work. 3) I do not think (?) that I have Acrobat 7. I did a search and found only the reader and the updater. 4) I've rerun the installer to see if I could update the Word. I've also deinstalled the whole Office Suite and reinstalled it - but the problem persists. Thanks in advance for your help |

See http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm followed by
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...peningWord.htm My guess is that the data key in the registry is corrupt (not fixed by reinstalling). Back it up, delete it and restart Word. You will lose some personalisations. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org greg wrote: I use WINWORD 2002 (Office XP Professional) in Windows XP Pro. 1) I've recently noticed that clicking on the "insert symbol" button on the toolbar turns the document to a shade (light blue) as though it were inactive. Thank you, Graham. Deleting Settings in the Registry worked wonderfully.
