Default Why does Word close when I am using multiple copies?

If I have multiple documents open that were created in Word and am clicking
between them Word will just close, by itself, all of a sudden in the middle
of working. I have tried to reinstall Word, but it still continues to happen.
I don't lose the information that I am working on because it always does an
auto recover but it makes it very hard to work with. Any ideas on how to fix
this would be great.
