Default margins set 1" top but curser goes to top of page, why

My margins are set to 1" top, bottom, left & right but the curser goes to the
very top of the page - why? and how do I fix it so it goes to the correct
margin setting?

Check your View Menu, get out of Normal View, and change to Print Layout View.

It sounds as if your white space might be missing.

Move your cursor to the very edge of the "page". when the icon changes,
click.
