Default alt 0252 not displaying expected result

Wanted to put tick boxes and ticks and MS web suggested using alt0252 , 3
and 4 as useful variants. Not getting expected results. Wonder if I am
using a different code page. Can't seem to find a way to do a dump of what
is actually loaded against my machine.

You will have to use a symbol font for this to work (with that particular
character, at least). However, it is easier to use the Symbol dialog box to
insert special characters.
