Hello,

In the word 2007 in options on advanced tab the check box next to field
"show field codes instead of values" is set and is not for update(display
only). Due to this embedded images are getting displayed. Can someone one
tell me what is controlling that check box as display only field?

Alt+F9 toggles that check box.

One thing that makes this field display-only is protecting the document
(e.g. making it read-only, or protecting it so that only form fields are
editable). If you have the Developer tab enabled, you can have a look at
"Protect Document" and see if any restrictions are in place. You may be
able to enable the Developer tab in Word Options-Popular.
