i have typed months on this file and suddenly, when i opened it today, all i
saw was a blank page. so i opened a new microsoft window and clicked the same
document and a message came to the screen saying "'xxxxx' is already open,
reopening will cause any changes you made to be discarded,do you want to
reopen 'xxxxx'" ? my vista computer highlights the yes button. its either a
yes or no question. i searched my computer for that same file and once i
clicked that file on the results page, the Same message appears on the
microsoft word window. please help.this is months after typing pages and
months of documents.my life is on the line sort of. any assistance will help.

Months of work and no back-up of the important files on your hard disk? At
the very least, you should have checked the option in Word to always create
a back-up copy. That would then contain the document as it had been saved
before the last time that you saved it.

What might have happened is that before you last saved it, you inadvertently
selected everything in the document and then pressed the space bar.

A professional data recovery service might be able to reclaim something for
you, but it probably won't be cheap and the success would depend on how much
the computer has been used since the last save.
