How do I insert thumbnails of pictures into a document, and add a hyperlink
to the original file. The original file will be in the same folder as the
..doc file.

Click Insert Picture From File and insert the picture you want.
Grab the HANDLES to adjust as needed. Then select the image and hit
Ctrl + K to wrap that picture with a hyperlink.
