Default Can you add a button with a file assigned to it on the toolbar?

In WP you can create a macro and then add it to the toolbar for file that are
used frequently. Is there a way to add a customed button and with a file
assigned to it on the toolbar for easy access?

Hi Newby - Welcome-

What you want to do is not a problem.

If you're not familiar with the macro recording feature, you might want to
explore Macros as well as Custom Toolbars in Word Help before you get
started, but the basic process is as follows:

1- Go to ToolsMacroRecord New Macro (or double-click REC on the Status
Bar), give the macro a name (no spaces) and make sure that the 'Store Macro
in:' field reads as All Documents (Normal.dot). You could also add the Button
to the Toolbar now, but I'll come back to that shortly. When yo click OK
recording will begin.

2- Go to FileOpen and make sure you _Navigate_ to where the disired doc is
stored. Otherwise the macro will not learn where to find the file if you are
already in the right folder and just open it from there. (In fact it may be
best to start off in a different folder to begin with.) Open the file as
usual.

3- Either click the Stop Recording button on the little Toolbar or go to
ToolsMacroStop Recording.

To create your button:

1- Go to ToolsCustomize (or Rt-Click the Menu Bar or any Toolbar & select
Customize). On the Commands page, scroll in the left list to select Macros,
and from the right list drag your macro to anywhere on any toolbar (your
choice*).

2- Rt-Click the new button and use the Shortcut Menu choices to give the
button a different label (Name), pick an Icon for it (Change Button Image),
as well as other options available there.

3- Click OK when done.

*You can also create your own Custom Toolbars or if you plan on macros for
several docs, you may want to create a Custom Menu and list them as Commands
within it.

Enjoy |:)

Thank you so much. I knew there had to be an easy answer. This will be very
helpful.

Although CyberTaz's method will work, there's a much easier solution that
makes a given file available with only two clicks. See
