Default Recovering Word Files

I had major problems with my computer after trying to un-install McAfee Virus
Scan; apparently it also un-installed components of my operating system. I
got the comptuer working again through a System Restore, but all the
documents in My Documents (and my Pictures) are now gone. Is there any way
to get these back?

Thanks!

Nothing you describe would destroy user data. Are you sure you're accessing
the right user profile?

By user profile, do you mean the name that appears at the top of the "start"
button? That one is the same as the one I always use. The problem was that
after I uninstalled McAfee yesterday, the computer wasn't working at all (I
would click Internet Explorer, for instance, and it would say "Title: type."
By doing a system restore (and some DOS codes I don't remember) the computer
was working again, but everything in "my documents" was gone.
