Default When .docx arrives by email, it will only save as a .zip- how to retrieve the docx?

I'm using Win XP, Word 2003 with the 2007 compatibility pack installed.
If someone send me a docx attached to an email, and I try to save it to my
computer, it saves as a .zip, not as a docx.
If I already have a docx on the computer, is opens OK as a doc.
Any suggestions on this problem?
Benny

..docx files really are .zip files. Rename the file to the .docx
extension, and (if it hasn't been damaged in transit) Word will open
it.

For a permanent fix, I think you may have to update your (unnamed)
email program.

I think I have found the solution- apparently my ISP needs to update its
server. When the docx attachment appeared on the email, and I tried to save
it to my desktop, the file extension turned to zip. I guess i could have
tried to rename the whole zip archive docx, then try to open it in Word, but
after an internet search (yeah, which i should have done before posting my
question here, i know, i know) I discovered that it's something to do with
MIME. Here is the Microsoft website dealing with the problem if anyone is
interested.
http://technet.microsoft.com/ja-jp/l.../cc179224.aspx

So thank you Jay, it does indeed require an update to the email program, but
from the other end

, whatever that is, but it turns out the problem is at the server end. to
rename it as
