Default Numbering using Roman & Arabic in brief with TOC and TOA

I need to learn how to number pages in legal briefs that start with a cover
page (no number). The next pages are numbered C-1 of 2 and C-2 of 2. The
next pages are small Roman numerals (TOC and TOA). The rest are numbered
with Arabic numbers.

You need to create section breaks for each group of pages. After the last
line of the cover page, select Insert - Break - New Page. Do the same after
the last line of each page that has a different kind of page numbering.

Then go into the footer (or header, if that's where the page numbers are)
and make sure that each one is NOT marked as "Link to Previous." You can use
the "Show Next" and "Show Previous" icons to navigate between the footers for
the various sections.

Then, using the Header and Footer toolbar, click on the Format Page Number
icon, and select the kind of page numbers you want for that group of pages.

My initial posting wasn't too clear on one point. You really don't want to
put the break after "the last line of EACH page that has a different kind of
page numbering," but just after the last line of the last page in each
section. If you have four different page numbering schemes, you will have
three section breaks.
