Default Word 2010 templates sharing

Hi,

I am creating a Word 2010 template from scratch that will eventually be shared across an organisation using building blocks and styles. I know how to delete and create building blocks on a local machine, what I was wondering is how can this file be copied and shared across as a global setting.

Also how does one set up a global normal template that can be shared across an organisation that overrides the MS default settings for fonts, language etc?

I am not a technical IT person but am an experienced user of MS Word for many years and have used many of the advanced features. We migrated from Word 2003 to Word 2010 a year ago.

Hi Liz,

create building blocks on a local machine,

*where* did you store the building blocks? Building blocks - like
former AutoText entries - can just be saved in templates. By default
they are stored in Building Blocks.dotx. But alternatively you can
choose a different template, e.g. a Letter.dotx, a Memo.dotx,
Normal.dotm etc. Provide special building blocks with your templates.
Provide global building blocks with Building Blocks.dotx.

Also how does one set up a global normal template
that can be shared across an organisation that
overrides the MS default settings for fonts, language etc?

Do not share Normal.dotm. Each user should have a separate Normal.dotm.
