Default Status Bar in Word to show Current Paragraph Number and/or Text

It would be helpful to see the paragraph number and/or text of the current
paragraph (i.e. at the cursor location) in the status bar. This would be
particularly helpful for large documents with long sections.

There should be room on the right of the status bar and the paragraph text
could be shortened with an ellipsis if it is too long to display in its
entirety.

Thanks for you response!

Where to I find the DocMap and what does QAT mean? I am using Word 2003.

Thanks,
Joe

Right-click in the Status bar and add what you want to display which
includes vertical position or line number.

Note that for navigating long (correctly formatted) documents, use the
DocMap which you can add to the QAT for quick access.

The DocMap (Document Map) is on the View menu in Word 2003. The QAT (Quick
Access Toolbar) is a Word 2007 feature, and the status bar can be customized
only in Word 2007 (not in earlier versions).
