Default Sizing a text form field in a template

How can I specify the exact size of a field on a form? I see where I can set
the maximum size, but I'd like to set a minimum also.

All you can do is set a default value - the fields are self-sizing to their
contents.

If you want to validate the contents you can do it in an exit macro.

You can't really do that.

The default content of a text field, if you don't specify anything, is five
nonbreaking spaces. You can go into the field's properties dialog and type
in more nonbreaking spaces (Ctrl+Shift+spacebar) to make the field appear
wider. As soon as the user presses the first character key in the field,
though, the field will collapse to that single character and then expand
again as they continue to type.

You can make a table with fixed cell width (and fixed row height, if you
want that), turn off its borders, and put the field in a cell.

You can make an exit macro that validates the cell contents, including
checking the length of its contents
(http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFl...teFFields.htm).
