2003 - 0 appears instead of zipcode.
Most of the zips are just 5-dig, a handful are 5-4 with one Canadian. The
5-4 & Canadian display as 0 in the merge. Data resides in .xls file, column is called "PostalCode", the code in word is simply { MERGEFIELD PostalCode }. I've tried formatting it the column as General and as Text. For a test while formatted as text, I deleted one of the zips that was working so the cell was blank. As a result no zip appeared, as would be expected. Q remains, why do I get 0 on the 5-4 & Canadian? ~Lori |

For an explanation of sorts, see
http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk/t0003.htm In this case, going the DDE route mentioned in there is one option, but have a look. Peter Jamieson "Lori" wrote in message ...
