Default How do I delete text that shows up in red?

Sounds like you have Track Changes turned on.
Searched Word 2007 Help for "track changes"

I am typing a document with Word 2007. For some reason, some of the text now
appears in red and can't be deleted. In the margin I see formatting details
for this text. All I want to do is to get rid of it, but I can't cut it or
backspace, etc. to get rid of it.

Any suggestions?
