Floating figure causes unwanted page breaks
Hi,
I have a rather large (~60% of a page length) figure inserted into a Word 2007 document inside a floating text box that has top/bottom wrapping. The text box is positioned bottom/centered with the paragraph it is anchored to above it at the top of the page. The problem is that an automatic page break is inserted between the anchor paragraph and the preceding paragraph, leaving 3/4 of the previous page blank so that it looks like this: --------------------- paragraph --------------------- anchor paragraph figure --------------------- "Move object with text" and "Lock anchor" are both unchecked for the text box containing the figure. All I want if for the text to seamlessly wrap around the figure with no forced page breaks. Thanks for any advice |

Floating objects often affect the flow of the surrounding text,
unfortunately. Have you tried experimenting with the settings for Text Wrapping? -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP On 2012-01-23 22:16 (GMT+1), cpp6f wrote: Hi, I have a rather large (~60% of a page length) figure inserted into a Word 2007 document inside a floating text box that has top/bottom wrapping. Yes, I've tried everything. I think the problem is that the figure has to be on the same page as its anchor and Word inserts a page break if it isn't. Doesn't seem like there's any way around this. I'll probably use publishing or typesetting software to insert my figures. Thanks anyway

Yes, the figure has to be on the same page as the paragraph to which it is
anchored, but you can drag the anchor to another paragraph if necessary. -- Suzanne S. Anchoring the figure to a shorter paragraph may improve the situation.
