Transfering Normal.dot from one machine to another
Hi - I am at my wits end with WORD and normal templates. It may have
something to do with the fact that I'm running Adobe Professional v7.0 - however here goes. Word 2003 on one machine and Word 2000 on another. On the W2003 machine I create a normal template with toolbars, macros, auto texts etc. I email it to the W2000 machine and I save it to the folder where word looks for templates. NONE of the changes are visible in the W2000 machine. On the W2003 machine the template is still working fine. So - I tried on the W2003 machine saving the template with a totally different file name, and again transferring it over with the same filename onto the W2000 machine - and again - NOTHING! Can you please help me? -- Lily@Integrity |

See the last section of
http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adob...at_toolbar.htm Do not use a Word 2003 normal.dot file with 2000. Instead use the organiser to copy personalisations from one template to the other. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Lily wrote: Hi - I am at my wits end with WORD and normal templates. You don't want to be copying normal.dot, especially not from a later version
of Word to an earlier one. See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros, etc. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://www.mvps.org/word which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup.
