Default Color change of the gray background of a Word Document

Hello Everybody,

Generally, when you open up a Word document, the document is white and the
background is gray. How do I change the background color in Word 2003. I'm
referring to the area outside the page. Specifically, the space outside the
document page, it is gray and someone at my firm has sensitive eyes and would
like it to be black instead, can this be changed.

There have been discussions about that here before and some people claim to
be able to do it through Windows Customization but I have never been able to
do it in any version of Word or Windows (although I used to be able to do it
in AmiPro years ago).

I have tried everything. I've gone into the Display Properties and changed
the Application Background to black. Gone into Tools, Options and changed
things nothing has changed. My firm has Office 2003 and Windows XP. Thanks
