Print white text as black?
My wife has eye problems such that she prefers white text on a medium blue
background. When documents are composed this way in Word 2007, is there any way of causing the white text to be printed as black without converting the text from white to black in the document? (We are using Canon iP5200 printers.) |

Then I'd try using a very light gray instead of pure white text color, and set your printer to print all colors as black. Print white text as black?
Thanks for the response, Robert.
I have figured out an answer that works. Apparently, in both Word 2003 and Word 2007, if you select the text color "Automatic," the displayed text will automatically change from black to white when the page color is set "dark enough." Text that is displayed white in this way will print as black on white. I still cannot get quite as light a blue background as I would like, but I have found some blues that my wife is happy with. As an aside, I spent a good hour trying to find documentation of this "Automatic" font color function. I searched Word Help, Google, Microsoft, MSDN, all to no avail. All I could find were ways of changing the default Automatic color. So I have no way of knowing whether a particular background color will produce white or black text, other than experimentation. Unfortunately, this has too often been my expeience with Microsoft. Their documentation is extensive, but the information I need is frequently inaccessible. Stan "Robert M. Boy, do I know _that_ feeling! ;-) Unfortunately, this has too often been my expeience with Microsoft. Their documentation is extensive, but the information I need is frequently inaccessible. Pretty accurate synopsis! :-( Glad you found a way to sort this out, albeit manually ... Robert -- /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign | MS \ / | MVP X Against HTML | for / \ in e-mail & news | Word |
