Default How to stop Word "preparing to install" everytime it opens (slowly

A system I look after always shows "preparing to install" box as it loads
word. Word loads very slowly compared to other comparable systems. This user
has lots of macros which most do not.
I have reinstalled and it is still there. Is it someting in normal.dot?

Any ideas?

Do you have multiple versions of Word on this machine? This is normal
behaviour if you use 2007 after using an earlier version.

That behavior can be fixed though:
