I have a word doc with links to external docs that are in the same folder and
a level down in a contained folder.

If I send this to someone else, will the links still work since they are
relative, or will they be looking for the absolute folder paths which are
only on my pc?

You may be able to get the results you're after by setting the document's hyperlink base.
