Default Password protection of Word documents goes wrong

Hi,
I'm excperiencing a weard situation in Word 2003. I have password-protected
a word document with a password thats 16 caracters long. Both Upper/lower
case letters and numbers.

Trying to open the doc gives me the errormessage that the password is
incorrect. After several attempt because I know that I haven't typed wrong I
test again on a dummy-doc with the exact same password. No luck - same
message. I then test again with dummy-docs with password from 2 caracters and
up. Up to 15 caracters all is fine. 16 caracter password does not work! and
my main-doc is stilled locked.

Is there anyone that could give me any kind of feedback on this? Spoken to
MS-support and they would not take the case yet before I've tried the
Newsgroups.

Best regards,
:-)Vibeke
