Templates in 2007
I have recently tried to create a template in Word 2007. I created the
document and then siad save as and selected Word template from the "save as type" box, as i have done on numerous occasions in 2003 and before. But it just seems to save it as a document, it does not save it into a template folder and it does not appear as a template on my computer when I select the new task pane. I also do not know how to put a field into the template to automatically create a date. In 2003 you would insert a field and you would select createdate. Can you still do this in 2007? |

You may have to change the location to which the template is to be saved so
that it is your user or workgroup templates directory, but there is nothing that prevents you from doing that. And you can still insert a CreateDate field. In 2007, the Insert Fields dialog is accessed by clicking on the Quick Parts item in the Text section of the Insert tab of the Ribbon and then selecting Fields. Alternatively, you can use Ctrl+F9 to insert a pair of field delimiters and then type createdate inside them. -- Hope this helps. Save As Word Template is one of the standard options. Save in the Trusted
Template location which is the top entry on the Places toolbar to the left of the save dialog box. The template will not appear in the list of used templates until you create a document from it, and you do that by selecting New My Templates. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Richard wrote: I have recently tried to create a template in Word 2007.
