Default Auto Styles 2003

When copying multiple files into one, I get all the formatting styles brought
with them. How can I delete most of them without deleting one at a time?
Also it seems Word 2003 will makes decisions for me automatically by applying
styles if they are in the drop-down styles listing. Can I turn this feature
off? Another situation is rather strange when I copy from one document in
one font and when you paste it into another, the font changes to Times New
Roman. These auto features don't seem to be consistent. I feel I've lost
control.

Thanks
Nita

You could Paste Special as Unformatted Text; this would not bring any styles
or font formatting along.
