Default How do I assign a different style character to a key on my keyboar

I work in some older Word documents that often have a quotation mark that is
straight up and down like this ". However, when I am actually typing in the
document now and hit the shift quotation key, I get curved quotation marks
like these . How do I reassign the type of quotation mark I want to
appear when using that key? Someone did this for me before and I have
forgotten the steps.

Thanks!

Check under Tools, Auto Correct, Auto Format as you type - there might be a
tick in "straight quotes with smart quotes" - untick this option and click on
OK.
