hyperlink converted to text in mailmerge emails
We sent a mailmerged email to our database.
It contained a hyperlink - to take recipients to a web page. The link was given a name, with the url as a hyperlink, done by: highlighting the link name, right click, hyperlink, then typing the url. The mail went out ok for the first few hundred. Then it reveted to just showing the text of the link name. This wasn't dependent on the recipient's email setup - the error was even in our own sent email, just showing the text link name. We have repeated it 3 times trying different solutions, and now have a series of people unsubscribing as a result of the hash up and I don't blame them. Any advice would be great - It must be a certainty as we can't test anything more out unless it's definitely correct. Also we don't have tech knowledge, so please keep it simple, no macros or html Ta very much, Grady |

It must be a certainty as we can't test anything more out unless it's definitely correct. While I understand the dilemma, I don't think certainty is really likely in this area, at least not using Word MailMerge (as your own experience already suggests). If you can successfully replicate these problems by emailing to your own addresses, I can only suggest that you try to look at the source code of the messages you are sending (and/or receiving) and see what the difference is between the early emails and the later ones. how to do that depends on what e-mail software you have - some e-mail clients make it easy to look at the source code and others do not, plus there are specialised tools. It used to be easy to look in Outlook but in 2007 things appear to have become more difficult, so when I test, I make sure I receive the emails in Outlook Express (only one possibility among many!) then right-click on the message in the message list, click Properties, then click the details tab, then click the Message Source button. What you should expect to see depends on a number of things, including which format you chose in the Mailmerge to email function (plain text, HTML or attachment). In my experience, even when you send as plain text format, the recipient may receive an HTML format message, but that may be because of something else that happens in the communicaitons chain that I do not fully understand. -- Peter Jamieson http://tips.pjmsn.me.uk "grady" wrote in message ...
