Default Macros and autotext not working correctly

Using Word 2003 and had macros and autotext when converted over to Office
2003 which worked well. Now when I create a new macro, it works while I have
Word open after creating it but when I close Word and reopen the macro is not
longer there and the toolbar button disappears.
I'm stumped. Help please...I also use Word as my email editor---would that
make a difference?

Using Word as your email editor does make a (bad) difference.

Macros and toolbar changes are stored in normal.dot by default. Email may be
using a different template to start Word. You may not be saving the changes
to normal.dot when you close.

If you store your changes in a different global template, they will stick.
See http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step
instructions on moving / sharing / copying / backing-up customizations
including AutoText, AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, toolbars, macros,
etc.
