Font compatibility with other users
Word 2002 SP3 on Win XP HE
Follow-up to: microsoft.public.word.printingfonts Hi, I have a document that I need to email to many external recipients. The document is formatted using Verdana fonts, condensed by 0.3 pt. I am wondering if this could creata a problem for recipients becuase of the font or its customization or; should I not worry about it since all recipients will have Word in any event--which should display the document correctly. (I have thought of replacing font with Helvetica--not condensed--but my understanding is that Helvetica is not a font that users generally have.) Tx for the comments. S |

There shouldn't be any problem, as Verdana is a 'standard' font which most
people using Word should have. If it has been removed from their system, Word will substitute another font which _may_ cause a flow problem. The condensed factor is a formatting attribute that will be applied regardless of which font is used, so if substitution is necessary that may contribute to the reflowing of the text. How much of an effect depends on which font is subbed for Verdana.
