Default How do I get parameter queries to work with mail merge?

Is there any up date on how, in a straightforward manner, to get parameter
queries in Access 2003 to work with mail merge in Word 2003?

There's only one out-of the-box method to do it: check Word
Tools|Options|General|"Confirm conversions at open", then go through the
process of connecting to your data source again, and select the DDE option
when it is offered. You have to have Access on your system for this to work.
