Default I rescued my word file using getdataback!??

I rescued my file but every time i try to open it, it is only showing mumbled
boxes and code???
Is it because i have updated to office xp from office 2000???
Please help???!!

Under File Open make sure that your file type is set to Word documents.
This is a "sticky" setting that stays at whatever you used last until you
change it.
