Simple address macros
All I want to do is to create simple macros for addresses using keyboard abbreviations, like "smith" for "Mr. Smith's full address", but the Word macro function wants "f3,s" for example, it won't accept "smith". That would be fine, except who can remember such specific shortcuts when there are hundreds of addresses? In word perfect I can easily use a lettered abbreviation, why not in Word? What am I missing? Thanks!

Simple address macros
Shortcut keys can use any or all of Ctrl, Alt, Ctrl-Alt, and the same with Shift.
Presumably the example you're looking at is telling you to use the F3 key at the top of your keyboard combined with "s", not some unmemorable sequence of letters and punctuation. You can't use just "smith," because how would Word know you weren't simply typing the word "smith"? Simple address macros
You can make use of AutoCorrect entries. For example, you can use
"smithaddr" as the trigger to insert the full address. (As Peter wrote, you don't want to use a word such as "smith," because you may want to use it in other contexts as well.) An entry can be formatted, that is, include multiple lines and/or formatting. For specific steps, tell us your version of Word. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Nikolai7" wrote in message ...
