Default hyperlinking from Word to an intranet site

I have been trying to create hyperlinks from a word document to pages on our
company's intranet site. When I create the links, using the same methods as
creating links to www sites, I get a page not found error. However, if I
refersh the browser, the page displays. So the URL is being passed correclty,
but the page isn't being displayed. I just want to make sure this isn't a
Word problem.

What I had to do was establish a hyperlink base (file-properties-hyperlink
base). file://c:\ was what I had to put in there. This fouls up the
internal links but the work around for that is to pretend you are linking to
a network file. I put in the whole path to the same document and link to a
bookmark inside the document. Hope this helps. Redbird
