Default master document feature fixed?

I know that the master document feature did not work in versions through Word
2000. What about newer versions? Has Word 2003 or XP fixed this feature yet?

Thanks much.

No, that feature hasn't changed in later versions of Word, so it works
(or doesn't work) as it did in earlier versions.
