Default spelling a grammer check problem

I have a file that was converted from a very old Mac into a word document.
the problem is that the spell checker and grammer checker is not working.

When I try to run a spell check I get the following error:
-- The spelling and grammer check is complete
-- text marked with "do not check spelling or grammer" was skipped.

I followed the steps given on the knowledge base to copy the text, put it
into notepad, then copy the text from note pad and paste it back into Word.
This turned off the error message however it still is not picking up
misspelled words.

The problem is only with this document as when I have tried to make spelling
errors in a new word document then I instantly get the red underline of the
spelling and grammer error..

Can anyone help me please.

You probably don't need to do that copy/paste thing. Just try this:

Anne,

I appoligize as that did work. When I first looked at your suggestion, and
having tried that I was discourged, then I read it again and realized the one
thing I didn't do was a select all before going into the language option to
turn on 'check spelling and grammer'

So from the bottom of my heart thank you, thank you, thank you. I truly
learnt something new today.
