Default How do I get white letters to appear on dark paper

Trying to use t-shirt transfers. I want to print white letters to show on
green shirts. The printer isn't recognizing that it should print when I
change the font from black to white.

Does your printer have white ink?

Tracey

Your printer has four colours at it's disposal and none of them are white..
please read through the following article..

http://desktoppub.about.com/od/trans..._transfers.htm

This is the part that will really interest you, but read all of the article
anyway..

White Does Not Print In designing your artwork remember that WHITE does not
print. The fabric will show through any parts of the design that are white.
For example, if you print a white ghost on plaid fabric - you'll get a plaid
ghost! Plan your design accordingly. As with any desktop publishing project,
consider the background color when selecting colors for your designs.

The printer simply is incapable of doing what you want. There is no
commercially-available, desktop printer of my acquaintence that will
print white on a coloured background. Dye sublimnation or hot wax
printers are a possibility.

When white is called for in usual printing, the printer simply prints
nothing. No combination of the inks available in the printer's cartridges
will blend to produce white. It is inexpensive to print white letters on
a white background since no ink at all is used. ;-)

If you want white, you will have to use a white shirt and specify a green
background. This will actually print the background green (or whatever)
so that the voids that are the letters will appear white. It is unlikely
that the lettering will be "crisp". And lots of ink is used.

A commercial jobber might take the green shirts and use a variation of a
silk-screen process to yield what you want.

Hope some of this is useful. Good luck.
