Default How do I type a text at more lines using the down arrow (not CR)?

Could anybody tell me how to write a text line by line using the down arrow,
but without use of carriage return/CR?

I need it for preparing search strings to be copied into Dialog Link. If
CR's are present, all search strings are sent automatically, but I want to
control, when they are sent.

Sounds like Word is the wrong program to be using. Word doesn't use lines as
such; it uses paragraphs, delimited by CRs entered using the Enter key. The
down arrow is not a character at all, but a navigation key.

Perhaps you need line breaks (Shift+Enter) or to let the text wrap
naturally? As Jezebel suggests, however, Word may not be the program you
need for this application.
