Linked object doesn't get locked
Hi,
I have been trying to get myself familiar with some of the advanced features of MS Word (don't know whether this one would qualify as an advanced feature or not). I read in the Word help that you can create linked objects in a document so that any updates in the source file will be reflected in the destination file. I also read that if I click on the "Locked" check box in the Links dialog box (accessed via the Edit Links route) then the destination file would not be updated, when the source file gets updated. But I find that when I change the font size of text in the source file, it gets reflected in the destination file. Any answers? Help would be greatly appreciated. |

Linked object doesn't get locked
Hi ?B?S3VuYWw=?=,
I have been trying to get myself familiar with some of the advanced features of MS Word (don't know whether this one would qualify as an advanced feature or not). I take it you inserted a file with a link? This should produce a IncludeText field in the document; if you press Alt+F9 to toggle on the field codes can you see this? If you select the field, then press Ctrl+F11 this should lock it (prevent it from updating from the source). Is this more effective? (Ctrl+Shift+F11 should unlock it again) Cindy Meister INTER-Solutions, Switzerland http://homepage.swissonline.ch/cindymeister (last update Jun 8 2004) http://www.word.mvps.org This reply is posted in the Newsgroup; please post any follow question or reply in the newsgroup and not by e-mail :-) |
