Default Word documents can only be edited by their creators

Hi
We have a shared folder on our network server where we create and save our
Word documents. Recently, only the creator of the document is able to open
the document and edit it and save it.

For all other users documents open as Read-Only and have to be saved with a
different file name if they are edited.

None of the users has the Read-Only option checked in Word to force this.

Any ideas on whats causing this.

Thanks

Paddy

This sounds like a permissions issue on the server. What version of
Office and network os are you using?

Hi Beth

Thanks, Word 2003 on XP Pro, the shared folder is on SBS 2003. I will ask
our network admin to look at the group permissions.

Thanks

Paddy
