How do you extract one page of a 12 pp .doc with all formatting and page
setup intact? Cut and paste doesn't allow for the margins etc.

You can't do it. Word documents are not built from discrete pages and the
page layout information is not part of the text formatting.

About the best you can do is either copy the entire section including the
end of section marker and delete the text you don't want, or copy the text
and section mark separately.
