Default Radio Button Confusion!

I created a form in Word 2003. I used a radio button from the control
toolbox. I know that I have to click on the design mode icon on that toolbar
so the button is activated. The problem Im having is: I clicked on it and
everything was fine; It was enabled and working properly. When I close the
document and open it again, Im not able to click on the radio button. It's
not active!
HELP!
