Default Drop down boxes in Word 2003

I need to create a drop down box. I click on the drop down box in the
control box and it is added to my document. However, when I double click on
it to add contents, it takes me to the Visual Basic screen and the not the
properties box to add or change the drop down contents. What am I doing
wrong?

For a dropdown box in a online (protected form) you use the Forms menus
(ViewToolbarsForms).

You are using a control from the "Controls Toolbox" instead of a field from
the Forms toolbar. Toolbox controls are incompatible with protected forms;
they require visual basic programming to operate.

What you are trying to create is what Word calls an "online form." Check
this in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at

Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at

Hope this helps,
