Tab key in Word's outlining feature
At work, when I create an outline in Word, the tab key demotes or promotes
the individual line items. For instance, an outline with "1, 2" would get demoted to "1, a" if I hit the tab key in front of line item #2. But at home the tab key doesn't function this way, and I have to use the Outlining toolbar to accomplish the same task. How can I set up Word at home so that it recognizes the tab key for this? |

In Word, click on Tools | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You Type |
check the "Set left- and first-indent with tabs and backspaces" box | OK. "SkinnyAlaskan" wrote: At work, when I create an outline in Word, the tab key demotes or promotes the individual line items. That worked! I greatly appreciate your help. The Word 'Help' feature
stubbornly resisted every search I could come up with to try to resolve this problem.
